Verified free credentials

Free online certificates and digital credentials

These 6 learning options currently offer a no-cost certificate, completion statement or selected digital badge. The exact credential matters, so Muft checks it separately from free course access.

Certificate does not always mean accredited certification

A completion certificate can show that you finished a course. A digital badge can represent completion or a demonstrated skill. Neither is automatically an academic qualification, professional licence, university credit or an industry certification exam. Check what employers or institutions require before choosing a course for its credential.

Selected Cisco digital badges

Cisco Networking Academy

Cisco’s technology-learning program with free self-paced courses and selected no-cost digital badges.

Access
Free Forever; signup required.
Important limit
An account is required to enroll and track completion. Catalog access, language, course duration and badge eligibility vary by course and region. A free course or badge is not the same as an industry certification such as CCNA or CCST; certification exams and some instructor-led academy offerings have separate availability or costs.

Free CS50 Certificate

CS50x

Harvard’s self-paced introduction to computer science, with a free CS50 Certificate for learners who complete the required work.

Access
Free Forever; signup required.
Important limit
The free CS50 Certificate is different from the paid verified certificate offered through edX. It does not itself provide Harvard academic credit. Completing the course requires multiple programming assignments and a final project, not just watching lectures.

Free verified certifications

freeCodeCamp Certifications

A nonprofit, project-based coding curriculum where learners can complete challenges and earn verified certifications for free.

Access
Free Forever; signup required.
Important limit
These are freeCodeCamp credentials, not university degrees or regulated professional certifications. The long-form curriculum requires substantial project work, and only the certification curriculum—not every article or video tutorial—leads to a certificate.

Selected IBM digital credentials

IBM SkillsBuild

IBM’s free career-learning platform for AI, cybersecurity, data, cloud and workplace skills, with selected digital credentials.

Access
Free Forever; signup required.
Important limit
Registration is required for full catalog access, progress tracking and credentials. Not every activity awards a credential, and each eligible learning plan has its own completion requirements. How to choose

  1. Start with the skill

Choose the learning outcome first; treat the credential as evidence supporting real work.

  2. Check the credential type

Confirm whether you receive a certificate, statement, badge or preparation for a separate exam.

  3. Read the completion rules

Projects, graded work, quizzes, surveys or full lesson completion may be required.

  4. Verify recognition

If a job, school or regulator requires accreditation, confirm acceptance with that organization directly.

Questions about free online certificates

Are these credentials completely free?

The listed credential is available without a credential fee under the conditions shown. You may still need an account and must complete the required work. Muft does not list a free trial as a free certificate.

Are free course certificates accredited?

Not automatically. Most options here are provider-issued completion credentials or badges, not academic credit, a degree, professional licensure or a paid certification exam.

Can I put them on a résumé or profile?

Usually, but describe the credential accurately and support it with the skills or projects you completed. A badge or completion certificate should not be presented as a degree or licence.
