How words and paragraphs are counted
Word boundaries use the browser’s language-aware segmenter when available, with a Unicode-aware fallback. A paragraph is a non-empty block separated by one or more blank lines. Different editors may handle punctuation, hyphens and writing systems differently.
Reading and speaking estimates
Reading time uses 200 words per minute and speaking time uses 130 words per minute. Both are planning estimates rounded up after the first minute; actual pace varies with language, complexity, pauses and audience.
How to use it
Type or paste text to see live word-focused metrics. Add an optional goal from 1 to 1,000,000 words to track progress and remaining words. Counts stay on your device and update as the text changes.
Privacy
All text analysis happens entirely in your browser. Text and goal values are not submitted to or stored by Muft. Avoid entering private material on a shared or untrusted device.
