What is free?
Proton Pass Free requires no credit card and includes unlimited logins, notes and credit cards across unlimited devices. It also includes browser, mobile and desktop apps, automatic synchronization, passkeys, password import, password-health alerts and 10 hide-my-email aliases. Proton’s plan guidance currently specifies two vaults.
What are the limitations?
Free users are limited to two vaults and 10 hide-my-email aliases. Secure vault or item sharing, the built-in TOTP authenticator, file attachments, emergency access, dark-web monitoring and unlimited aliases require a paid plan. Exports are available from browser extensions, the web app and Windows app, but not directly from the mobile apps.
Who is it best for?
Individuals who want password management plus a small allowance of privacy-protecting email aliases, particularly people already using Proton services.
