Penpot’s hosted Professional plan costs $0 per user per month and provides interface design, prototyping, developer handoff, unlimited teams and unlimited design files within 10 GB of storage. It supports up to eight team members, unlimited viewers, community plug-ins and seven days of autosaved versions and deleted-file recovery. Penpot is also open source and can be self-hosted.

The hosted free plan stops at eight team members and 10 GB, with only seven days of version history and deleted-file recovery; paid hosted plans extend storage and recovery. A hosted account is required for Penpot Cloud. Self-hosting removes dependence on the hosted plan but requires the user to operate, secure, update and pay for their own infrastructure. Fonts, imported assets, templates and community plug-ins retain their own licence and security terms.
