What is free?
Bitwarden Free includes unlimited storage for logins, secure notes, cards and identities, access and synchronization across devices, and a password generator. Any account can also own one free organization for two users to share items in up to two collections. No payment information is required for that free organization.
What are the limitations?
The free individual plan does not include encrypted file attachments, the integrated TOTP authenticator, emergency access, advanced two-factor options or vault health reports. Personal Premium does not itself unlock sharing; sharing uses an organization plan. Bitwarden cannot retrieve or reset a forgotten master password for an ordinary personal account, so users should prepare recovery options and a safe backup.
Who is it best for?
Individuals who want an open-source password manager across many devices, especially people who need unlimited personal storage or basic sharing with one trusted person.
Muft verdict
A strong default when unlimited vault storage and broad device support matter more than bundled email aliases. The two-person organization is useful, but its sharing model is more structured than a simple shared folder and advanced recovery remains paid or enterprise-specific.
